Although Halloween may look a little different this year, Elmwood Park Zoo‘s Boo at the Zoo returned October 10th for costume contests and trick-or-treating.
A Norristown staple since 1924, Elmwood Park Zoo is home to over 100 species exotic and endangered animals. This year’s annual Boo at the Zoo drew trick-or-treaters from across Greater Philadelphia to explore their 16 acres, taking precautions to create a hands-free Halloween experience and practicing social distancing guidelines. Our booth remained hands-free as well, with scannable QR codes and 6-foot distancing stickers.
Families enjoyed a surprise appearance from their favorite Star Wars characters as the Garrison Carida chapter of the 501st Legion invaded the zoo. Fan favorite Chewbacca could be heard across the zoo, letting out his distinctive growl. These Stormtroppers stopped by our photo booth on their way to the Red Panda.
Elmwood Park’s Boo at the Zoo continues every Saturday and Sunday in October. The event is FREE with zoo admission with treat and activity stations scattered throughout the park and special guests appearances. Make sure you bring your mask as the event is hands-free and COVID guidelines will be enforced.
